If the rumbles and waves of anxiety are throwing a party in your life and nervous system (and you’re not even a party person!) come learn simple, somatic and bodybased practices for in-the-moment support.

Soothing and support for the most anxious moments

A trauma informed workshop to explore basic bodybased practices to support you when anxiety begins rumbling.

I’ll share about the nervous system, yes, but this is also a place you can try on a few tools and hopefully walk away with one that works!

An opportunity to be held in a trauma informed space that honors your nervous system and agency. Do you need to participate fully (whatever that means)? No! Do you need to keep your camera on? No! Will you be expected to share about your experience? No!

I hope you’ll show up in the ways that feel most comfy and doable for you.

An introduction to the intersections of anxiety, the nervous system, and somatics (your body and felt sense experience). Because embodiment isn’t easy for all of us, and quelling anxiety isn’t as easy as β€œchanging your thoughts” or β€œcalming down”.

But somatic, nervous system centered approaches and awareness can help!

YOU’LL BE INVITED TO EXPLORE:

➝ How anxiety shows up in the soma, body and nervous system through a polyvagal lens | this might change your relationship to your experience of anxiety, or validate the experience you already have

➝ How interoception and exteroception can support us (or not) through anxiety | explore sensory systems and inside or outside approaches to anxiety relief that help your nervous system know it’s okay (because if I had to guess, telling your brain that you should be fine hasn’t been working for you)

➝ Simple and powerful practices you can use in moments of anxiety | no tools needed! just your body and wherever you happen to be

➝ What works for you when you feel anxious and what doesn’t | so you’ll know where to turn when you need a little help and which tools you can take out of your bag (or practice at other moments - we’ll talk about this in the workshop!)

  • "Jess held a very thoughtful and respectful space and encouraged everyone to adapt and do what feels good. I have some range of motion limitations so I always appreciate when that is acknowledged and/or adaptions are provided. I learned some good techniques for grounding and being gentle with myself."

  • "The SSP experience has been tender and open; a gentle space to land each week and spend intentional time tending to my nervous system. I relax and my breath deepens as I arrive into this unique space with an open invitation to find the experience I need that day with the music and the group, but no expectation to do so in a specific way."

  • "My session with Jess was such a beautiful catalyst to further healing within myself: she gently supported me in realizing that part of being a trauma-informed massage therapist is creating the conditions where I, too, can feel safer and more present. This was just one of several lightbulb moments in our consultation, which really helped me get clarity on how I want to grow in my trauma-informed practices."

    Mel Meder, Massage Therapist

  • β€œPart of what I loved about the SSP was Jess’s invitation to show up exactly as we were. Just before SSP began, I experienced some trauma in a group setting and felt hesitant about the group dynamic of this process. I was able to show up completely nonverbal and in tears the first day, and felt warmth and welcomed in this experience."

  • "As the weeks progressed, I was able to connect outward more to other members of the group as my nervous system allowed, and even initiated conversations and cracked some jokes! The SSP was healing on multiple levels for me, and this group dynamic was just one slice of the pie.”

    SSP Client, 2/2

  • "Jess clearly possesses a nuanced understanding of how the subtle/energetic and physical body holds and expresses trauma wounds. She is a gifted facilitator who demonstrates compassionate awareness and skillfully creates a safe container from which emotional vulnerability and connection flow organically."

❁ A TRAUMA INFORMED WORKSHOP TO SUPPORT YOU IN THOSE ⚑SOS⚑ MOMENTS ❁ REPLAY AVAILABLE

Hi, I’m Jess (she/they) and I have experience with somatics and anxiety. The mind kind, and the body and nervous system kind. Which feels trickier to navigate, can make life feel small and unsafe, and tries to run the show!

But I’m not just anxious. I’m also a licensed massage therapist, somatic and SSP practitioner and trauma-informed educator and mentor. I draw from my lived experience as a survivor and my extensive trauma-informed studies.

I love getting nerdy about the nervous system, and I love holding space for trauma informed embodiment practices. This means that in spaces with me, you (your nervous system, your brain and your body) can show up as you are and be held.

You can expect gentleness and true invitations (no force or judgment; just invitations to honor your nervous system and needs), laughter and nervous system nerdiness to go along with our somatic explorations. I’d be honored to hold and share space with you as we learn a few supportive practices for anxious moments.

IF YOU EXPERIENCE:

➝ Knowing you are technically safe, but your body and nervous system often don’t feel safe or get that message

➝ Planning every little outing, down to arrival and escape routes, always needing an exit

➝ Packing your bag (or work from home desktop) full of everything-you-might-possibly-need, preparing for anything you might encounter

➝ Struggling with things that seem easy for other people, like making phone calls, leaving the house, quieting spinning thoughts, etc.

➝ The kind of anxiety that lives in your body and physical symptoms; not just worrying (which also sucks, don’t get me wrong!)

This workshop might be for you!

I WILL OFFER:

➝ A trauma-informed space that honors your boundaries, affirms your body and nervous system wisdom and coping strategies, and partners with you as the expert of your experience

➝ Information that might help you make friends with your nervous system, understand your survival responses and anxiety, and make space for new ways of being to unfold

➝ Simple somatic practices that can help you navigate anxiety with more self compassion
